Malinga Targets Cosafa Success
Swallows FC midfielder Kagiso Malinga was proud to score on debut on for Bafana Bafana last week, but says the most important thing is winning the Cosafa Cup for the nation.
Malinga came off the bench in Bafana’s opening game of the tournament to score the winner. He then started the next game, a 1-0 victory over eSwatini.
He says it is great to get a chance to represent the country, and the entire squad are trying to make the nation happy, with successful run in the Cosafa
“It’s been great, coming here to represent the country and the badge has been great. Nothing more, we just need to work. Just make the nation proud,” Malinga told SAFA media.
“For for us, it’s it’s not for us now. It’s for the nation. You know, like, as things are happening now, we just need to put some some smile on the nation’s face, you know, make people happy. So everything we do we doing it for the nation.”
Malinga was pleased to have scored on debut against Botswana, the country his mother hails from.
“Yeah. But then it’s it’s been difficult because I scored against my mother’s nation, but then because it’s my nation, you know, I’m proud of making them happy.
“So ja, we just want to make them happy and win this tournament.”
Bafana take on Lesotho this afternoon in Gqeberha, before finishing the group stages against Zambia tomorrow.
