MOTM Ngcobo Makes Clear Admission
Kaizer Chiefs utility man Njabulo Ngcobo has opened up on the team display against Maritzburg United and addressed the debate of his position in the team.
‘Roadblock’ as he is affectionately known, discussed his side’s performance after he was awarded the DStv Premiership Man of the Match for his sterling performance on the day.
Amakhosi have collected another win in the league as they overcame Maritzburg United 1-0 in Durban to keep their winning run, and moved to sixth in the league standing.
“I think this means a lot for the team that we are now winning, also the way we are playing I think it will earn us more points going forward,” he told SuperSport TV after the match.
“I think maybe because the game was delayed it disturbed us a bit because the first half we barely performed as a team that did not want to score.
“But I think we bounced back in the second half with a stunning performance because even our movements showed that we are back in the game.”
The Bafana Bafana international went on to state that he’s not concerned over which position he plays, having won the PSL Defender of the Season with Swallows and now being converted into a midfielder under Stuart Baxter.
“What, I think, is it’s important to be one team and be a family, with the connection and the respect that we have, I think it is no longer important that who plays which position,” he explained.
“But the most important thing is when a player’s performance benefits the team.”
