Tinkler – The Possibility Of A Draw Is Unlikely
Cape Town City head coach Eric Tinkler says that going by their history, he is expecting a result in Saturday’s Cape derby against Stellenbosch, and hopes it will be for his team.
Tinkler was speaking at a function organised by the DStv Premiership ahead of the derby.
In their previous four official meetings, since Stellenbosch were promoted to the top flight, there have been two victories a piece, with Stellenbosch winning the last encounter.
“Well I think if history tells you what you just explained, the draw or the possibility of a draw is unlikely, if you go according to statistics,” Tinkler said at the pre match conference.
“I think that’s a positive, I think all of us, we want to see entertaining football, first and foremost, and normally, derbies are difficult matches for players, and obviously the fans themselves, because it’s all about bragging rights for until the next derby comes up, and being able to walk, not behind a mask, but your face exposed, and celebrate the fact that you obviously got the win against against Stellies.
“And that’s obviously going to be our objective. To try and collect those three points.
“We want to continue the momentum moving forward. And obviously, Stellies stands in our way. So we got to get through that.”
