With Cape Town City set to play Swallows FC twice in a week, City coach Eric Tinkler says their focus is on Friday’s DStv Premiership match now, and not next week’s MTN8 semi-final second leg.
City go into the game on the back of a 3-0 loss to Stellenbosch, and Tinkler says they want to bounce back from that result.
Swallows had a similar result in their last game, as they lost 3-0 to SuperSport United. The club has since announced that Brandon Truter will be on leave for two weeks, and Simo Dladla will lead the team in his absence.
Tinkler says that having a new coach in charge, has meant their planning for Swallows has not been as easy
“You know, obviously we got Moroka Swallows league match tomorrow, and in four or five days time we played them in the MTN8, but this league match is our priority right now,” Tinkler told the club’s media department.
“Obviously, we want to bounce back from the loss again Stellenbosch. Disappointing performance, particularly how we conceded the goals, obviously an area that we worked on this week, looking to improve our defensive strategy.
“And then try and bring positiveness to the team. Showing them where we’ve done good things so far this season, where we’ve put on good performances so far this season. And we need to replicate that in this game against Swallows.
“It’s going to be tough away from home, there’s obviously been a coaching change there as well. So preparation been a little bit difficult, because we’re not sure what the new coach is going to bring in. But ja, we need to get back to winning ways and Moroka Swallows stands in our way.
“So we got to go there with a positive mindset, positive attitude, good work rate, good work ethic, and try and secure the three points.”
