Truter Expects Fast, Physical Pirates

Swallows head coach Brandon Truter is expecting a tough physical game against defending MTN8 champions Orlando Pirates and confirmed that loanees Austin Muwowo and Monnapule Saleng can feature.

Last season the two teams played to 1-1 draws in their two league matches, the only two meetings between Pirates and the re-booted version of their old Soweto rivals.

Saturday’s encounter is set to be an exciting start to the season for both clubs, and Truter says both teams will be gunning for the win.

Swallows have Muwowo and Saleng on loan from Pirates this season, and at the digital pre-match press conference, iDiski Times asked Truter whether they would be available to play,

“Yes, the two loanees is available to play against Pirates,” Truter replied.

Truter is expecting a tough physical game against Josef Zinnbauer’s team, and he expects Pirates to be even more physical having added Mandla Ncikazi to their coaching staff.

“What I expect from Pirates, of course, the quality stock,” Truter continued.

“They brought on a new (assistant) coach as well in Mandla. Also always his teams also always is hard running, physical players as well. Pirates was physical last season as well, the conditioning is top tops.

“So I expect a fast game, I expect a high quality game as well. And I expect two attack minded teams, having a real go at one another. It’s going to be tough for both teams.

“I think Pirates won it last season if I’m not mistaken, so they would want to defend their trophy as well. But for us, being new to this competition, for us being the first time, yes, we want to achieve as well.

“And ja, I think both teams do not want to lose and would want to go as far as competition as possible.”
