The situation of Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer has been compared to treble-winning Buccaneers coach Ruud Krol.
Zinnbauer ended his first full campaign at Orlando Stadium with one trophy after lifting the MTN8, which ended six years without silverware for the club.
However, he has still come under huge pressure, with many fans believing the German tactician hasn’t done enough to stay in his job.
There were rumours that Steve Komphela had been approached to take over but those have been put to bed by the club’s administrative officer Floyd Mbele.
Mbele has further explained why the club brought in Mandla Ncikazi as additional assistant coach, comparing Zinnbauer’s situation to Krol, who won the treble in his third campaign at the club.
“Even at a time when Ruud Krol was here, he hadn’t done well in his first two seasons and everyone was crying out for him to go we stuck to him,” he told SAFM.
“We saw value in having him there after we added Craig Roslee, the dynamic changed.
“It is needless to say that in the third season we’ve got a treble and then the next treble thereafter.
“So there are similarities in terms of the challenges that we’ve dealt with then and how we would to approach now.
“But I think the situation will unfold as we get into pre-season and we prepare for the new season coming.”
