Slimkat Lands New Job

Former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs has been appointed as the new goalkeeper coach at NB La Masia.

Josephs, who is widely considered one of the greatest-ever goalkeepers in Premier Soccer League history was part of the Benni McCarthy-led technical team during their time at AmaZulu and parted ways shortly after his sacking.

The former Bafana Bafana shot-stopper then moved on to coaching at Emmarentia Primary School in March this year, but he’s been quickly lured back to the professional game.

iDiski Times has been informed he started his role under head coach Delano Hendricks last week ahead of the 2023/24 Motsepe Foundation Championship season.

La Masia, finished 13th last season, nine points off the drop zone, but with 39 goals conceded in 30 games, they had the joint-second worst defensive record in the league.

Only relegated TTM conceded more goals during the season while Black Leopards, who returned to the division after securing the status of All-Stars also conceded 39.

‘Slimkat’ will be aiming to shore up their goalkeeping and defensive department this season, as the ambitious club look to build on their first-ever season in the PSL.

At La Masia, Josephs will also link up with his own son, Niyaaz Josephs, who also plays as goalkeeper and recently joined the club.
