Official: Barker Completes Shock Move To African Giants

Simba SC have made a surprise announcement with the appointment of Stellenbosch FC coach Steve Barker. According to Simba, the 57-year-old coach signed a two-year deal with the Dar es Salaam-based club. The club further confirmed that Barker will join the club along with four other technical team members and is set to arrive in Tanzania soon. South African football legend Benni McCarthy says what makes him proud about the current Bafana Bafana squad is that it is largely made up of locally based players rather than those playing abroad. Former Ubuntu Graduate Drafted In MLS

A former youth player from the Ubuntu Academy in Cape Town has been drafted by MLS club Houston Dynamo. 22-year-old defender Calem Tommy was picked up in the second round of the draft by Houston on Thursday, having spent the last five and a half years in the USA, first at boarding school Northwood College in Lake Placid, before attending North Carolina State University. Kaizer Chiefs legend Rudolph Seale believes Amakhosi can surprise South African football lovers by winning the CAF Confederation Cup. Seale played for Chiefs between 1989 and 1995 making over 200 appearances. The 59-year-old also represented Bafana Bafana on nine occasions. The Soweto-born applauded the current Chiefs team which is full of youngsters and ended a 10-year trophy drought in May by winning the Nedbank Cup.
