Fawaaz Basadien was named the club’s Player of the Season, as Stellenbosch FC hosted their annual awards gala at the Allée Bleue Wine Estate on Tuesday evening. The club, currently third, hosted the awards before their final Betway Premiership game of the season on Saturday against Cape Town City. The Premier Soccer League prosecutor Zola Majavu has announced that JDR Stars’ case against Durban City was dismissed by the DC on Tuesday, but a by Cape Town Spurs is still open. JDR Stars had lodged a protest over the alleged wrongful registration of Saziso Magawana, and with the case only being heard on Tuesday, Durban City were not officially crowned Motsepe Foundation Championship champions, and are yet to receive the trophy. The PSL DC have dismissed the case between Durban City and JDR Stars, who had alleged that Saziso Magawana was incorrectly registered, meaning City have secured promotion to the Betway Premiership.
