Richards Bay’s charge to have a better team next season continues as they have completed the signing of Sinethemba Mngomezulu.
Mngomezulu has signed for Bay after having spent one season with Stellenbosch FC, who he signed at the beginning of last season.
The powerful striker will come in the side that is in desperate need of a centre-forward, as they scored the least number of goals (20) in the DStv Premiership last season, escaping the relegation by the slighted of margins after finishing 13th on the league table.
They won just one game in the second half of the season, leading to the sacking of coach Vasili Manousakis, his assistants – Pitso Dladla and Ronnie Gabriel, at the end of the season.
Bay has since appointed Kaitano Tembo as the club’s new coach and also announced several signings already.
Mngomezulu scored four goals in 24 matches last season, eight of which were starts, having lost out to Devin Titus and Iqraam Rayners, with the latter arriving in January from SuperSport United.
The 23-year-old, who has already been put to his paces by the Bay technical team, joins Letsie Koapeng, Lucky Mohomi, Justice Figuareido, Thabani Dube and Thato Mohlamme as one of the new players.
Bay will start the 2023/24 season against SuperSport United, Tembo’s former club, at Lucas Moripe Stadium on 5 August.
