Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has insisted previous results between his team and Ethiopia will not count when the two teams lock horns for the World Cup Qualifiers clash this afternoon at Bahir Dar Stadium.
SA are on top of group G with four points after they beat Ghana 1-0 and played a draw with Zimbabwe early last month, while Ethiopia lost to Ghana and beat Zimbabwe in the two first games.
But in history, the East-African country had beaten Bafana Bafana once, while they drew the other of their two games.
“History is history, yes this is past, and I think also for Ethiopia, it’s not because you want always to win tomorrow or vice versa, this is a new game,” Broos told reporters.
“And I think also when you see a bit history of Ethiopia, they did very well the last years, they were qualified for Afcon. So it will be totally different game and also for us.
“We didn’t qualify for Afcon, but we started very well in the qualifiers, we are first in the group. So again, I never count or take attention to what was in the past.
“It’s today or tomorrow, it’s important and we will see.”
