Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Morgan Gould has opened up on his one big regret from his time with the Glamour Boys.
The 38-year-old retired from the beautiful game ahead of the 2021/22 campaign and spoke to iDiski Times senior writer Velile Mnyandu in a wide-ranging interview for this week’s newspaper.
Among many topics discussed, Gould also spoke about his time at Naturena and the pressure he felt at the club before insisting his team should’ve taken CAF competitions more seriously.
“Unfortunately, I would have loved to see how we would have done if we had taken CAF seriously with the team that we had,” he told iDiski Times.
“I feel like somehow we were giving in because CAF at that time wasn’t financially good. If you look at the teams that were taking part in it were the Egyptians, Moroccans the Tunisians hence the dominance in the past couple of years.”
When asked about the knockout against eventual finalists AS Vita in 2014, Gould insisted that his team could’ve done better had they had a bigger squad.
“It just goes to show if we had a large team like Sundowns we would have done better, because Sundowns could rotate players, they can play three different teams and still give the same quality,” he added.
“So we were a small team, if we had taken it more seriously, we could have been a better Kaizer Chiefs back then.”
