Baxter Gives Nurkovic Update
Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter has given an update on the injury of Samir Nurkovic which will likely rule him out for quite some while.
The Amakhosi forward underwent an operation last week Wednesday to repair his meniscus in his right knee, the club confirmed on Sunday.
His coach explained the reason behind the surgery, revealing Nurkovic picked up the injury last season already.
“He’s been carrying a minor injury for quite a long time, from back in last season, I think,” Baxter told SuperSport tv.
“Now it’s at the level where Samir is not at his best and he agrees. And therefore we’re going to go for the operation.”
Nurkovic himself had told Chiefs website that he will have to wait for the club’s medical team to give him a timeline on his recovery.
“I have had this injury niggling me for a while now – the medical team felt it was best to get the operation done,” he said.
“Further assessments will be done after the operation. The medical team will give me a timeline on the recovery process after that.”
Nurkovic made four DStv Premiership appearances this season and also featured in the MTN8 quarter-final against Mamelodi Sundowns but is yet to score in 2021/22.
