Orlando Pirates co-assistant coach Fadlu Davids has admitted that Terrence Dzvukamanja’s injury affected his side during their defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Zimbabwean international attacker was replaced by Ntsako Neverdie Makhubela as a forced change before half-time after picking up an injury.
The Baccaneers suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
“Yes it affected us in terms of our structure, but Neverdie came on, and he did well,” Davids told reporters.
“We had to change slightly the structure, we wanted Dzvukamanja to play really close to Mabasa, not leaving him isolated in that area.
“Dzvukamanja he’s a special type of player, he’s is a 9, but can play number 10 role as well. He really gives you something different what your normal number 10 cannot give you and also gives you something different what your normal number 9 can’t give you.
“So yes, it did change our structure, changed our way to press, it changed our way to build up slightly but on the flip side, we took control of the game in the second half of the first half.
“We changed things around and changed the structure because of this in the second half but Neverdie did well when he came on.”
