Bafana Bafana’s fitness and conditioning coach, Kopano Melesi, has joined Liverpool FC legend Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq side in the Saudi Pro League as Head of Performance.
Melesi’s conditioning journey dates as far back as 2013 when he was the Head of football conditioning at the University of Free State before joining the astute Aspire Academy in Doha, Qatar and then the Mahd Academy in Saudi Arabia which makes him no stranger to the region.
The former senior national U20’s and U23’s Sport scientist, confirmed his arrival at Al Ettifaq via social media on Monday.
“Pleased to announce that I have joined Al Ettifaq as Head of Performance. Thank you to @Ahmadhanfoosh for making this move possible,” Melesi wrote on X.
Melesi formed part of Hugo Broos’ Bafana squad that won the bronze medal spot at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
