Simba S.C. coach Didier Gomes was full of praise for his players after beating Kaizer Chiefs 3-0 on Saturday.
The Tanzanian giants almost turned the tie around, but were eliminated 4-3 on aggregate.
Gomes, who lamented his side’s poor defending in the first leg, showered his players with praise after their second-leg performance.
“I’m very, very proud of my players,” he said.
“Because of their fight. They didn’t give up. They played until the end.
“They showed very good spirit, very good fighting spirit. They were very committed and really and I’m very, very proud to be the coach of this kind of player.“
Simba, though, exited the competition despite their fine performance on the day.
Chiefs will now face Wydad Casablanca in the semi-final in June.
