Kadodia – I Wouldn’t Wish This On My Worst Enemy

Durban City chairman Farouk Kadodia says he does not wish what his club endured after securing promotion even on his worst enemy.

City secured promotion to the Betway Premiership on the final day of the season finishing top of the Motsepe Foundation Championship log with 58 points. Instead of celebrating after the match with Cape Town Spurs at the Athlone stadium, the side had to deal with allegations from JDR Stars and Cape Town City that midfielder Saziso Magawana was improperly registered.

The PSL Disciplinary Committee and SAFA’s Arbitration ruled the matter in favour of Kadodia’s side taking a few weeks to finally crown the side as champions.

The chairman told iDiski Times senior writer Matshelane Mamabolo in edition 208 of the newspaper that the accusations were humiliating and have been costly to some extent.

“You know, I can tell you one thing – we were more excited after the game against [Cape Town] Spurs because we knew we had secured Premiership status,” Kadodia told iDiski Times.

“Yet to have to wait in agony for two weeks has taken away the excitement, but we have to accept it. It was a lot of humiliation that we had to endure, with the media speculating that the team was going to be relegated.

“The challenge is that such negativity does not put you in a good light with corporates. So, it is a setback for us in terms of getting sponsorships. Whoever the orchestrators of this were, it was heartless of them. I would hate for this to happen to my worst enemy.”
