Cape Town Spurs coach Ernst Middendorp has identified Boitumleo Radiopane as a player he feels could make a difference in the near future for the bottom-of-the-table team.
It has been a difficult run for Spurs, who have won just once and lost eleven games in the DStv Premiership so far this campaign.
After seven straight losses, Spurs opted to sack Shaun Bartlett, who had promoted them from the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season.
But Radiopane is one player, who is yet to feature for Spurs this season after once again being on loan at the club from Orlando Pirates.
Radiopane has sat out injured since the promotional play-offs in June, but has recently begun light training at the club.
Middendorp hopes that when Radiopane, who scored seven goals for Spurs last season, returns, he finds good form quickly.
The 21-year-old also missed parts of the 2022/23 campaign through injury and only made nine starts, but his goals and contributions in those games, and off the bench, were key in Spurs’ promotion chase.
“Everybody knows there is a player, who hopefully can come into it, probably he would have been a little bit more successful with the possibilities in the front,” Middendorp said on the weekend after Spurs lost to Royal AM.
“Good, I hope we will get him in the right moment and then he will come back to his form, what’s needed from Cape Town Spurs.
“I think we have the same opinion. He is a player who can score, he’s a player who is capable to help us in the front.”
