Percy Tau may not have played much under Graham Potter but the Bafana Bafana international has now received some special praise from his coach.
The South African made a rare appearance for the Seagulls in their 1-1 draw with West Ham United over the weekend, assisting Danny Welbeck’s opener.
However, he was once again an unused substitute in Brighton’s surprise 3-2 win over champions Manchester City on Tuesday.
Tau, though, was now highly praised by Potter for his attitude and professionalism during a tough first few months since returning from his loan at RSC Anderlecht during the first half of 2020/21.
“I mean, credit to Percy that he is so professional. He is supporting the team, he’s helped his teammates,” the coach The Argus.
“Of course he is like every player, they want to play, they want to be on the pitch. But he is not head down.
“He came back from international duty after quarantine. He’s adapting to a new country, he’s adapting to a new club in a time where it’s not so easy to do that, during lockdown.
“You know, there is no real social interaction outside of where we are, so not so easy.
“But he’s been fantastic to work with. A great person and I’m happy for him that he could contribute on the pitch.”
Tau has made just four Premier League appearances this season but will hope to add one more in Brighton’s final match at Arsenal on Sunday.
