Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter has commented on his relationship with Mamelodi Sundowns co-head coach Rulani Mokwena.
The duo will face each other on the sidelines on Sunday when the reigning DStv Premiership champions will face Baxter’s side in a much-anticipated clash.
Mokwena was involved in a reported fallout between the Masandawana coaches but cleared the air in a press conference on Friday, saying the incident had been put to bed and they are focussing on Amakhosi.
Baxter used the opportunity to clarify that he himself also doesn’t have any issues with Mokwena.
“I don’t know where anybody got the idea that me and Rulani don’t see eye to eye,” he told reporters.
“I think probably on footballing terms we see the game being played in a way the global game is being played and we don’t hide behind our own opinions as being the gospel as written by the coaches. I don’t see that.
“Rulani might chop me down now and say ‘I hate the old son’ but I’ve never felt that. There is a professional respect between me and Rulani as far as I am concerned.”
Sundowns will host Chiefs at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday at 17:00.
